Sometimes the mini filter seems like it is not fitting on yout tap with an external thread. It may require a bit of upward force when placing it on. Be careful not to cross thread the unit and make sure that you have inserted the correct washers for fitting. If there is a slight leak it may be necessary to use 2 washers when fitting.

Is the mini filter suitable for borehole water?
The mini filter needs to be seen for what it is. It is an entry level filter intended to remove a few of the nasties in municipal water that cause an unpleasant taste and odour. It will also remove sand ,silt, rust and sediment. For a better grade filter we suggest looking at the Instapure filter we sell which has 3 options of cartridges to remove from odour only to the heavy metals etc. that people often ask about.

Should I remove the cartridge every time I wash the dishes etc?
This will obviously extend the life of the cartridge however the filter was not intended for this and it will reduce the life of the casing. The cartridge is intended to be replaced only once a month in a standard household scenario.

How will I know when to change the cartridge?
If you unscrew the casing and look at the top of the cartridge it will be dirty so is an indication of time for a change. If the water had a recognisable change when installing the filter then the taste would have reverted back to the distasteful flavour. Certain areas the taste change will be more noticeable than others.

Does the mini filter fit all taps?
Although the mini filter is a universal fit there are some new taps on the market which have deviated from the standard thread sizes . There are not many though that it will not fit.
The mini filter will fit all standard taps with either an internal or external removable aerator.

Has the filter been approved by any world standard.
Although not locally the filter has been approved in Japan by their equivalent of the FDA.
